Salman Khan in ‘Khalnayak Returns’? Subhash Ghai Finally Breaks Silence on the Biggest Casting Buzz

New Delhi: Speculation surrounding Salman Khan’s reported entry into Khalnayak Returns has been gaining momentum, but filmmaker Subhash Ghai has now addressed the rumours, making it clear that no final decision has been taken yet. While Sanjay Dutt is set to return as the iconic Ballu, Salman Khan’s involvement in the sequel remains unconfirmed.

According to media reports, Subhash Ghai and his writing team are currently working on the film’s script. During this process, discussions have emerged about a special role being developed for Salman Khan.

Will Salman Khan Play a Police Officer?

Reports suggest Salman Khan is being considered for the role of a police officer who could assist Sanjay Dutt’s character, Ballu, in the story. The role is said to be significant and not just a brief appearance, with the potential to influence the film’s narrative.

However, no official announcement has been made regarding Salman’s casting, and the makers are yet to finalise the screenplay.

Subhash Ghai Says Nothing Is Confirmed Yet

Responding to the speculation, Subhash Ghai said it would be premature to comment on Salman Khan’s inclusion as the scripting process is still underway. He stated that the direction of the film and the final cast will become clear only after the script is completed.

His statement indicates that Salman Khan’s reported role has not been officially confirmed at this stage.

A Possible Reunion After ‘Yuvvraaj’

If Salman Khan joins Khalnayak Returns, it will mark his second collaboration with Subhash Ghai after the 2008 film Yuvvraaj. The film could also reunite Salman and Sanjay Dutt on the big screen, a pairing that continues to excite Bollywood fans.

The original Khalnayak, released in 1993, was a major box office success. Directed by Subhash Ghai, the film starred Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles, with Raakhee Gulzar, Anupam Kher and Ramya Krishnan playing important characters. Sanjay Dutt’s portrayal of Ballu remains one of the most memorable performances of his career.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan is also making headlines for his upcoming film Matrubhoomi, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-starring Chitrangda Singh. The film is reportedly based on the backdrop of the Galwan Valley clash between India and China, though its official release date has not yet been announced.
